About Us

Jakarna Wildlife Trust was set up in 2008 as a charitable organisation determined to make a difference in the field of wildlife protection and conservation. The founding Trustees, Mark and Nicki Oliver have been lifelong supporters of wildlife charities and advocates for the amazing work they do throughout the world. Determined to support their common interests and with a desire to save and protect vulnerable and endangered animals worldwide, they embarked upon the challenge of setting up a unique wildlife conservation organisation, where like-minded individuals could come together and support their efforts and actively get involved. Through a unique fund raising initiative, supporters play an important part in the development and shaping of the charity and are able to participate in many of its activities.

There are many organisations worldwide who set out to improve the world we all share and help people and animals in desperate situations in all four corners of our planet. There are many thousands of people who dedicate their lives to protecting the wildlife we all admire but sometimes take for granted and we commend any organisation with these principles and any individual who supports such activities. Our aim is to assist their endeavours and to help protect important areas of land wherever possible.

Our Aims

Our main objective is to set up and manage a number of wildlife conservancies in critically important parts of the world for the purpose of protecting wildlife. If we can truly rescue a handful of vital areas where wildlife are in danger, whether it be from poaching or loss of habitat, we believe we can make a big difference in the field of conservation. Our four principles serve to embrace our ideals and set out the values by which we operate: -

Environmental Conservation

To secure the protection and preservation of vital areas of conservation land of global importance. To create a guiding principle for natural resource management that will in time conserve the natural habitat.

Wildlife Protection

To protect against human/wildlife conflict issues and provide a safe haven for endangered animals. To assist international organisations in controlling and improving wildlife numbers.

Education & Community Support

To work with children and local communities in vulnerable areas and provide educational initiatives. To improve the standards of living and provide a better understanding of the issues affecting their lives.

Socially Responsible Tourism

To develop environmentally responsible and sustainable tourism opportunities, where wildlife and habitat are not compromised. To provide outward bound and citizenship opportunities for local and overseas visitors, within our conservancies.
